## 2025-05-08 Planted tomatoes and jalapenos today in **Aerogarden 1** ## 2025-05-14 Tomatoes sprouted today, about 6 days in. ## 2025-05-20 Planted thyme, dill, mint, Thai basil in **Aerogarden 2** ## 2025-05-21 ### Aerogarden My jalapeño in **Aerogarden 1** has finally sprouted after 13 days - just yesterday. It's tiny but determined, pushing up alongside its companion, the heirloom cherry tomato plant that sprouted a week ago (May 14th). The tomato seedlings have sprouted 4 little plants. Once they get a little taller I'll have to snip all but one. ![[IMG_3959.png]] **Aerogarden 2** is still in the waiting phase. I planted my herb garden just two days ago (May 19th) with thyme, dill, mint, and Thai basil. The mint will likely be the first to show itself based on past experience - it's always been a vigorous grower. The Thai basil typically takes a bit longer, but produces beautiful purple stems once established - and the smell of basil is one of my favorites. In the coming days I plan to build some sort of Ph tester so I can understand what my water quality is like. The water in this area is very hard and all of my water filters usually die within 3 weeks to a month. In any case, the Aerogarden makes it pretty easy to maintain without a lot of fuss. Here is an old photo of my Aerogarden farm: ![[IMG_1556.png]] ### Bonsai I've been thinking about growing bonsai again. I think I would enjoy the time and patience it takes to get something like this to grow. I grew some from seedlings a while back but the upkeep, in an apartment, is really difficult. ## 2025-05-24 I've decided the bonsai is too large of an undertaking at moment 🫠 In any case, the other plants are doing well. The jalapeno has grown another few millimeters. ## 2025-05-25 The jalapeno is now tall enough that I've removed the plastic dome. I will likely have to re-arrange the plants since the tomato is already about 50mm tall. ## 2025-05-29 I accidentally set my light to 24/7 on the newer Aerogarden. As a result, I think my seeds are taking longer to sprout as we're on day 8 and I don't see anything new yet. The older Aerogarden with a tomato and jalapeno plant is doing very well. ## 2025-06-03 My tomatoes are doing so well I had to move the jalapeno plant over to Aerogarden 2 due to the size. Now Aerogarden 2 has 5 plants. Here they are and their current status: - jalapeno: sprouted, about 1" tall with ~5 leaves - mint: 2 sprouted, tiny little things, not yet above the cup entrance - dill: 2 sprouted, these are now about 1" tall but still tiny - thyme: not yet sprouted for some reason which is a little concerning - thai basil: also not yet sprouted ## 2025-07-25 Tomatoes are out of control. Basically. There are at least 40 or so on the bush now. Same with the jalapeños. Removed the dill as I pickled some cucumbers with it _plus_ it was growing way too fast. I also got some smaller plant buckets for aeroponics, a little more "DIY". I will likely move the jalapeños and tomatoes to these. ## 2025-08-03 I've harvested tomatoes and jalapeños now. Pretty soon I should have enough for a little salsa! 10 jalapeños and 25 tomatoes. ![[harvested-tomatoes-jalapenos.png]] I also bought two "buckets" that are a manual aerogarden of sorts. Since I have an Aerogarden farm I am considering growing something a little more substantial in the buckets like larger tomatoes and using the Aerogarden's lights and timers.
